Getting Started
about to do my first injection and I'm second guessing everything

Right so the vial has been sitting in my fridge for nine days because I keep finding reasons not to start. 5 mg BPC-157, I reconstituted with 2 ml so by my maths that is 2.5 mg/ml and 10 units on a 100 unit syringe gets me 250 mcg. Someone please tell me that is right before I stick myself. The plan is 250 mcg twice a day for the shoulder. Left AC joint, torn something in a snatch about four months ago, physio has helped but it has plateaued badly and I am 31 and quite bored of it. Things I am stuck on: 1. Everyone says subcutaneous near the site of injury. My injury is my shoulder. There is not a lot of loose skin on a shoulder. Do I do it in the delt area or just accept belly fat and let it circulate? 2. How much does it hurt. I am not squeamish about blood but I have a thing about the anticipation. 3. I pinched a fold, went to insert, and then chickened out and put the syringe down. Is a 29G going to hurt more if I go slow? Also unrelated but the courier left my order at the wrong gate in my complex on a Friday and it sat in the sun until Saturday morning. It was still the powder form, not mixed. Am I fine or did I just waste twelve hundred rand

Maths is right. 5 mg in 2 ml is 2.5 mg/ml, 10 units is 0.1 ml is 250 mcg. You are good. Go fast on the insert. Genuinely. Slow is what makes it hurt, the anticipation makes you creep and creeping is the worst way to do it. Pinch, dart it in at whatever angle feels natural, then push the plunger slowly. It is the insertion that wants speed, not the delivery. 29G into subcutaneous fat is a nothing sensation for me most of the time. Occasionally you clip a tiny nerve and it stings for a second. Move over two centimetres next time and it does not happen again.

On the local versus systemic question, the honest answer is that the evidence for "near the site" being meaningfully better is thin and mostly extrapolated from rodent studies. Plenty of people inject the abdomen for tendon issues and report the same results. If you want to do it locally around the shoulder you can pinch a fold on the outer delt or just above the pec insertion, there is more there than you think when you grab a proper fold of it. The powder in the sun: lyophilised peptide is a lot tougher than the reconstituted stuff. A weekend at maybe 30 to 35 degrees, still sealed and dry, is very unlikely to have destroyed it. Not ideal, not a write-off. If it reconstitutes clear with no clumping or discolouration I would use it. Log your shoulder pain out of ten each morning before you start. Week zero baseline. You will forget what it felt like by week five, everyone does.

did it. did it three times now. the first one i felt nothing at all and then spent ten minutes convinced i had done it wrong somehow. shoulder unchanged obviously, it has been 48 hours. baseline was a 6/10 on overhead pressing and about a 3 just sitting at my desk.
